My Corporate Job

For more than a decade I've worked in a competitive and fast-paced environment of Promotion, Sales and Marketing. Lists of things to be done and accomplished, working whole-day and going home late at night. Don't get me wrong, I loved my job and the people around me. I also felt how much they appreciated me. But because of health reasons, I resigned. Until now, I still have calls, messages and invites from my bosses and colleagues.
How I became interested in Freelancing
For more than 6 years now, I can see some of my friends enjoying the perks of being a freelancer. Sometimes I like to try but it always ends up me saying "It's not for me".
Until my brother's wife asked me if I know someone who can help in her new job as a Virtual assistant. She felt that she needs additional training and assistance. Then I remember a friend's friend who is a coach. I contacted her and inquired. I thought, someone has a freelance job already and yet they need additional skills and training. So I also enrolled in the FVA Freelancing Course, without any plans of applying for a job. I'm just curious and want to know about the online job services, data entry, web research, social media marketing, email marketing, etc.
Challenges of a Freelancing Course

First week is a real struggle. It is setting up the foundation of a freelancer, and yet I still can't see myself as one. I want to give up the course. My coach was being patient with me. I end up passing incomplete assignments, not because I can't, but because I don't want to.
Week 2 comes and it's better than the previous week. Incomplete assignment again, social media marketing-I'm not into it, yet! Plus, I've been very busy as a bee that week.
Week 3- Web design assignment is easier for me, but got severe flu for 5 days! Still incomplete assignment!
We are now in week 4, and I can say there's a love for these new skills developing inside me. I now know that a proficient freelancer can be a big help to their clients. That’s what I want, to be of big help to my clients. I now decided to finish all my incomplete assignments, those I have no plans of doing. And then, move on to the week's lessons. I can incorporate the skills and training I acquired as a Sales and Marketing Coordinator to the new skills and and freelance services that I can offer to my clients. I need patience, focus, determination, dedication but it’s worth it!
